My 2000 Jimmy was having a slow start, so I took him down to Auto Zone. I was told I needed a new alternator. I had one installed. The day afterwards, I was having the same slow start, but noticed a sound that sounded like a grinding noise. Jimmy did not start on the first crank, but started up on the second. I again went to Auto Zone and was told I needed a new starter. I had one installed. When I got Jimmy back, it made this noise that sounded like something spinning, but not quite catching when it started. The mechanic said that because it was a new starter it just needed to become synced with the flywheel and to give it a day or so to do that. Well, the next day, Jimmy would not start at all. A second starter was installed. After I got my car back, it had that same whirling noise and was told I needed a new flywheel and to bring the car back the next day. While driving back to the mechanic, the car started making this noise that sounded like a motorcycle accelerating. Needless to say, now I need yet another starter. Now I am hearing that the starter housing is cracked.
Any ideas on what the issue is????
