2000 sonoma 2.2 to 4.3

how much trouble would it take to upgrade my 2.2 to a 2.4? i have a 2000 sonoma sl with a 2.2 5 speed manual, and i have a 4.3 vortec sitting from a 93 astro van and was thinking about if it would be possible to just take my motor out and put the 4.3 in?

More trouble then it is to swap in a 5.3 with a auto. You can always go with plan B http://www.dts2.net/. Install a turbo kit for your 2.2, being a 2000. I think you should have a 4 bolt main already.

yeah i figured it would be kinda pointless anyway, the turbo is a great idea though ill look into it, the website says 3150.00 $, thats pretty high a price for me right now, but ill save my pennies and see what happens, any other ideas on how i can improve my truck?

Personally, I favor the clean cut look. No ground FX, just lower the suspension 3/4 and install 17 inch wide ass wheels like ones from a Corvettes.

keep us posted and hope you find your path with your Sonoma, food for thoughts. There are lots and lots of 4.8 Vortec that go for dirt cheap cause everyone is looking for the 5.3 and up.

Think i did a right up on the 4.8 Vortec a while back on the pro's and con's to it other then that you can sink one in your Sonoma for about $1500,00 for a clean swap with the V8 kit, Engine, Trany, and ECM.
