2000 w/4.8, repair or replace

Is it worth repairing or is it better to replace the engine? My 2000 GMC Sierra, which I bought new, has 345,000 miles on the original engine. I'm starting to get low oil pressure readings on the idiot light. I've been told that this is not good, especially because of the miles.

Have you looked at the cost of a short block/long block and what it might cost you to do an overhaul (repair). |It sounds like there could be many spots where there is significant wear: Bearings, rings valves etc.

I guess if you like the truck and the body/suspension etc is in good shape..it would definitely be worth getting some pricing together to see what your options are.
