2000 w/ HIGH miles

With 349,000 on my '00, I've been using Max Life since 150,000. Because of wear, should I switch to a full synthetic and how long between changes.

I have been told, that although the Max Life has extended the life, a full synthetic would help extend the life before the little things (compression loss, rings etc) happen. I've learned a lot from other posts and just wanted opinions from pros and semi-pros, not some guy trying to sell me expensive oil.
