2001 GMC Sonoma - Key Fob

I recently purchased a 2001 GMC Sonoma that is extremely low mileage (kilometers) and in nice overall condition. I am I guess the second owner and I am trying to find items or did it have items that belonged to this vehicle. The key fob is one item and I have been trying to find out if it ever had one and if so how does someone like me to find out and what key fob can be purchased.

It appears after doing some more digging and looking at a factory brochure my Sonoma did not come as a standard or option feature for the fob door openings. Now the question begs, can one be installed after the fact. More time and $
