I have a 2001 2500 hd the rear is a 10.5", 4-10 gears and 10.5" ring gear can I use a 11.5", 4-10 gears, without any issues? Thanks for any input! Sorry forgot to mention this is 4wd ,

I am not certain but I think not as the 11.5 is to big to fit in the 10.5" housing. If you mean can you swap the complete axle assembly, that might be possible. I am pretty sure the 11.5 is used in the dual rear axle set up?

Thanks I did call a dealership who said that it was an option for 2001 and I was concerned about the 11.5 not turning as fast as the front when in 4wd he said the 11.5 was built heavier and teeth were spaced so they would turn the same as front when 4wd was engaged. as long as it was 4/10 gears he thought i was ok,,,,, I am just looking for another opinion before making this switch,,, sure hate to install 11.5 and have an issue with it and have to tear it apart again. Thanks

fyi

I ended up takin the chance that the 11.6 would be ok .....just installed it and it works great! And it was even cheaper than a 10.5 rear, as long as gears were same it should work .....is what I was told and they were rigt! Thanks!
