I'm new to the forum and have a question regarding a fuel pump.
My son's 2001 Sierra 4x4 with a 5.3 has a bad fuel pump. He ordered a TCU code pump by mistake, it calls for a TCF. The only difference I can visually see between the two is the fuel tank pressure sensor that mounts on the top (via a grommet) for the extra plug in. The new TCU pump has a spot to mount the sensor but it's just not installed, they must use the same molding for both pumps.
My question is, are the only differences between the two pumps the fuel tank pressure sensor? I could simply knock out the plug and install it if there's no other difference between them, fuel pressure, etc., and then just complete the wiring upgrade on the other plug.
