Hello, I have a 2002 2500HD 6.0L (4L80 Transmission) with ~52,000 miles. When I start it there is a whining noise which gets louder with acceleration. I don't hear it when I let off the gas. Occasionally (but with increasing frequency) after starting for the first time of the day, when I shift into drive it doesn't drive. 10-20 seconds later it'll drive slowly with a loss of power. After 3 minutes of driving the power seems fine but the whining is still there. I checked the transmission fluid and it's fine. Where do I start looking to see what the matter is? Thank you

You have a supercharger. has to explain the whining noise. :D

Sounds like your tranny is giving out.
That whining noise, kinda like the whining noise you get when driving in reverse?

Fluid may look fine.
I would flush the fluid.
I'll keep informed to see what up.

I dont deal with newer trucks, but should be the same principle.

Tell me if you find anything in the fluid.

Good luck.

almost sounds like the pump is giving up the ghost and the torque converter may have trash in it. high pressure hydralic systems like your automatic transmissions need to be kept clean what i would do personaly if the truck came to me would be to pull one of the lines that goes to the cooler for the tranny with the truck on to see if i could get some fluid to come out if not that tells me two things either there is a clog in the system that is not letting fluid move or the pump is going out and the tranny might need to be rebuilt but i wouldnt make that call untill i had the pan off and the filter out so i could see what was going on in the trans
