Truck died. 2002 4.3l v6.
Found worn out distributo gear. Replaced gear.
Set timing according to spec. = wouldn't run.
Set timing one tooth before spec. = runs fine with p1345 code.
New cap and rotor installed.
Also sometimes gets p0155 code.
Tried new distributor gear in both orientations=no change.

Any ideas?

Problem solved..... Thanks for your input

Problem was solved by finding the second timing mark on the balancer with a timing light. Using that mark to set the distributor correctly. Previously installing the new gear on the distributor in the correct orientation in relationship to the rotor brass pointing close to or at the cam sensor in the distributor. I did not know any of this and with forum help, test and trial and internet sites I finally figured it out. IT RAN FOR 12 DAYS ONE TOOTH OFF THE CORRECT DISTRIBUTOR SET LOCATION ON THE WRONG MARK ON THE HARMONIC BALANCER=TRUE STATEMENT I SEEN IT HAPPEN FOR 12 DAYS. It was someone wrote in and said test with a timing light and then I found the correct mark on the balancer.

All I am saying is that it was fun, a learning experience and thanks for all your input. THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED. Now the only code I get is p0155. I am working on that one but not too concerned because the truck is running great and the gas mileage is not bad.

THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT

I posted a reply that was lengthy. It did not show up so I will make this short. PROBLEM SOLVED= WAS USING THE WRONG MARK ON BALANCER (THERE ARE 2).
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT AND INPUT.
