Hello folks.....have a bit of a problem that I hope somebody can lead me down the right path.

I noticed my right low beam was out so I bought a new bulb for it. When I went to change it I saw the pigtail/socket of one of the contacts was burnt/melted, and the bulb still looked good. I put the new bulb in to see if it would work and it did, so I tried the old bulb and it worked also. I continued to use it as is but it went out a couple of days later. I bought a replacement pigtail/socket and soldered it in and the same thing happened again.

I have now bought another one and replaced the burnt one, sprayed all connections with contact cleaner and put the new bulb in, and will monitor it to see if it reoccurs.

Does anybody have any idea what would cause a power increase to one bulb causing it to burn/melt the pigtail/socket?
