2002 Trans dipstick won't stay in Fill-tube.

Hey there,

I've got a 2002 4wd envoy sle. Recently the dipstick for the transmission has been...sliding out of the fill-tube. There is no resistance pulling it out even if I press down it's 'locking handle'. What could be the cause of this, a warped fill-tube...broken dipstick?

I have not looked at mine .. but I suspect that perhaps the cam on the lock down is not working properly. I would start by inspecting that. I would expect it to work kind of like a stopper in a bottle or a cam type mechanism that could crack or come loose.
