About 8 months ago my oil pressure gauge messed up and instead of the needle being in the numbers, it is all the way off to the right of the gauge. Two days ago, that gauge started bouncing from one position to another and finally my oil pressure low light "DINGED" at me and gave an alert. Then it went off. It just comes on, then goes back off? Does this sound like a gauge problem, or do I have another issue?

Start with the simple and have a mechanical oil pressure gauge to verify that you do have good oil pressure and then inspect the wire harness fro your oil sending unit.
If everything is in working order, then its safe to sat that your going to have to replace your oil pressure sending unit.
