New to the forum - we have a 2004 Envoy XUV (5.3L engine).

I'm in OH, and my wife is at our home in AZ. She had the oil changed in the Envoy today, and the dealer noted that the 'oil pan gasket was leaking' a bit as well as the seal around the front pinion. As I do most maintenance tasks myself, I'm curious about how difficult it is to replace these; the dealer quoted her price of nearly $1000 due to fact you have to drop the front diff to get to oil pan. Truck only has 60K miles on it.

just wonderin'..

Start with the simple and re-torque the bolts to the oil pan. Thats not common for the front pinion seal to leak, but thats not to hard to replace.

Start with the simple first and keep us posted.

Thanks, that's what I told my wife I'd do when I have access to it again - it's not weeping bad, she was worried, and I told her that I'd take care of it. Right now she's there and I'm here, trying to get stuff moved here....LoL...

Thx again!
