Hello, I bought this 2004 used XUV and replaced the radio with a used one from online parts dealer. The display shows "Locked" and I took it to dealer, who tells me it can not reset the VIN for it to work. From this forum I read there is either EPROM or PROM, the firmware can be changed with Tech2. Does anyone know someone who can reset the VIN radio for me? thx fdr

Essentially, it's locked because it has an anti-theft feature. And you CAN get it reprogrammed IF the technical or dealership knows what they are doing. Unfortunately, this is not something you can do in your driveway. From what I've seen, dealers will charge anywhere from $60+ upwards and beyond $125 to do this service for you. It's difficult because the head unit communicates with the (ALMIGHTY) BCM.

I found this for Chevy radios (probably same for GM radios, but I do not know), so you might be able to unlock it.

Try these links:

Read down into these discussions, there's info there:
