2005 gmc canyon 4x4 help?

I have a 2005 canyon 4x4 4 door 3.5l and the four wheel drive keeps eating the front diff. I know the gears are 3:42. I have a friend holding a front diff off a '90 chevy 350 4x4 with the same gears. Will that front diff bolt straight up or should i just swap out the gears? Any help on this would be great not a very rich person and only enjoyement is going trail-riding.... thanks

Front diff will not bolt up, the carrier's are different in the Canyon's. I am not sure also if the ring and pin will work also.
