I have had an ongoing problem for days now. My 2005 GMC envoy denali is stalling on idle at drive through, or when in park and leave car running... the odd thing is that it starts fine in the morning but after driving it and everything seems to warm up... it does not start back up, it turns over AND at times it keeps turning over with only one turn of the key... when i let it sit for anywhere from 30 mins up to a few hours.. it then starts back up fine.
I had all the filters replaced, fuel treatment/seafoam added... no help.
disconnect the battery.. then connect back it runs and starts untill the computer gets the bad codes again.
Took it to autozone for the computer and got many codes.. some generic codes such as p0689 ecm power relay, p1516 manufactur control idle speed, p2176 tac system idol, p0443 idle position, p2101 tac motor circut.
took it to a good mechanic today, he had a more detailed computer.. it gave him all types of codes... he stated the codes that it is giving is ones that are the ecm/pcm.. and that only the dealer can fix the car due to even if he got the powertrain computer module that the dearlship is the only ones who can set or reset it properly.
of course after he looked at it, it would not start back up.. I had it towed to the GMC dealership... hoping to that it is under warranty.. the rcm/pcm IF it needs to be replaced is under warranty up to 80k miles.
My specific question is: do ALL the codes it is throwing mean each seperate condition is wrong with it.. or is all of the codes just out of wack due to the ecm is faulty..
the way i tend to look at it is that the ecm will not just all of a sudden go bad... it would be a condition of other problems that would throw all those codes out... I am hoping for good news.. if the ecm needs to be replaced.. it is under warranty... if not then i am up the creek due to I have no finances to get repair...
I have been searching the internet for days trying to make sence of this and try and diagnose the problem, which I know that it is impossible to do online.. I guess I have scared myself into thinking the worse.. kinda of like when you try and diag. a medical condition on the net... all the possibilites come up and cause worry.
I am sorry for being so detailed but I felt I needed to start at the beginning of the issue..
so again my question is.. if the emc/pmc is "bad" would the car even start at all???? What symptoms would occur it the pmc is bad or specifically that part/computer is going bad.
I appreciate any help on this issue, I hope to ease my mind a little or get prepared for the worst case senario.. when a car can ONLY be fixxed by the dealership it sounds very serious.
If the car companies cant make money selling cars, I am sure that they are getting their money by being the only ones that can repair their faulty products....
sorry for all the errors spelling, spell check wont work.. and i really needed to try and get some info on this issue.
