Hi I have a 2005 Sunfire. (It has traction control). I am haveing the front right break sticking on.
I changed the front pads, rotors and right caliper in sept 2009.
This april I changed the right caliper and flex hose because this break seem to be sticking.
I took it to a dealer since and they changed the caliper again, still sticking.
They said it was the $900.00 break modulator vale not working. I picked up a second hand valve and the dealer installed it.
The same wheel is still heating and the dealer said it is a bad valve also.

I find this hard to beleave, 2 valves bad and only effecting the one wheel.
I do not believe it is the wheel bearing due to it does not heat every time.
I can not feel the break holding back the car when on slite grades coasting.

Do any of you have any sugestions.

Keep it simple and remove the caliper pins, clean then off and the front spindle where the pins go in to. Make sure there lubricated (Graphite) and this should help your front brake issues. Common for the front Caliper pins to cause the calipers from sliding freely back to there neutral position after braking.

When the brakes are applied the inner pads compress on to the rotor, in turn pulling the outer pads towards the rotor with the caliper assembly. The heat is transfered from the rotor, pads and on to the caliper and then to the pins. The pins expand and does not let the calipers move back out causing your outer brake pads to keep pressure on the rotor, this will cause the pads to get hard (Glazing) and just keep heating up the whole caliper unit to over heat and seem like it's sticking.

Start with that and keep us posted, be safe. :D

Here is a link to your caliper and the #1 is the pins i am trying to describe.

Thank you! I will try this and let you know if it works.

Hi;
I tried lubing the pins and ect and it did not work. When I apply the breaks the caliper on this wheel is still not releasing all the way.
I loosened the bleader screw and no fluid came out untill forced back the piston. This should release pressure shold it not? This teels me the problem is from the caliper to disk. This is the third new caliper and all work the same.

Do you have any suggestions??
