hello,

i am having this issue with the dealer on my ac i have a 2006 envoy since 2006 it seems every summer ihave an a/c problem. this yr it has been at the dealer 3 times they changed some sort of switch in the engine area still the air would only blow 60 degrees at idle or on the whole vehicle circulation then it was back in they changed the compressor out now the vehicle blows with the a/c only on at 56 degrees at idle when i turn the vehicle circulation on it blows out at 40 degrees. my question is shouldnt the vehicle blow cold without the vehicle circulation on

thanks

When the Envoy is on circulation mode, its circulating the cold air that's inside the cabin. When its not in the circulating mode, it takes out side air and has to cool it down which will give you the temperature difference from circulating and fresh air. ;)

thanks molson,

so this is normal? and i take it on less humid days the a/c without the ciculation is not necessary for instance it was 95 for 3 days here in chicago and when im at a stop light without the circulation on it felt like a fan and not air when i turned the circulation on it felt cool.

thanks

Yes that is normal and that's why the newer cars have the circulation feature. At best on humid day, if you have 8 degrease difference from outside temp, its normal and if its cooler then that. Then your Ac is running more then 100%.

Good luck and always make sure your cabin air filter is clean and replaced every 6 months. ;)

Your welcome and keep up the great work with your Envoy, the new filters will give you better air flow throughout your Envoy and cool it down better.

Keep us posted

i was doing a search for a cbin filter at different auto part stores and they all say the 2006 gmc envoy does not have a cabin filter

My bad, forgot the cabin air filter were for the 99-02 envoys. But where the filters doors where is still the same except there is no access door to install a air filter.

here we go,

picked up my envoy was nice and gold at 40 degrees at an idle with the circulation button on. then on saturday eveneing i was able to get the air to 40 degrees while on the expressway while driving in the neighborhood speeds of 30 to 50 mph it would read 48 degrees then at stop lights the temp would jump to 57 degrees almost like it shuts down blowing warm air out. it goes back into the shop today. they did change the compressor out on the last trip to the dealer. im not sure what this problem could be and i doent thing gm does either but my guess is there is only a couple things left to change they did mention something about some sort of core where the dash has to come out?

Have them check the fan clutch to your radiator, they need to use a tech 2 scanner to see when the fan clutch activates when your ac is running.

Try swapping out your headlight relay with your fan clutch, there the same rely and when the relay starts to go bad, it no longer activates your fan to run at the right speed.

The fan clutch on your envoy is a variable speed clutch which means it does not matter what speed your engine is running at, the fan will spin at a give speed controlled by your PCM.

Good luck and keep us posted. ;)

molson,

funny you say that the fan clutch on my envoy has been replaced before. but it still makes a loud sort of like a semi-truck noise sometimes when i first drive away when its not started for awhile

just got home and checked the relays they are brand new the dealer must have replaced them last time they are black and the rest of the relays are grey, im off to the dealer to drop it off again and see if they can get this right

it all seems to be working now it was reading 40 degrees on fan setting 2 it was 83 out wwe shall see today and tomorrow when its going to be 93 and 99
