2007 GMC sierra Service Stabilitrak, Traction control off and ABS off lights all on.

Hello,
I have a 2007 GMC sierra 4x4 with newer style body 5.3litre. Back in Feburary 2012 the right wheel bearing went and I changed it. Last week about three months later the truck felt like it was binding went turning either left or right and then a week after that the Service Stabilitrak, Traction control off and ABS off lights all came on and they remain on. I decided to change both wheel bearings again as I read that the new bearings could go bad giving this error code. After I changed them, the lights are still on, and yes the binding when turning left or right continued as well. I talked to someone who told me to turn the auto 4x4 turn switch to 2wd instead of auto to see if that helped the binding. I did turn the switch from auto to 2wd and the binding stopped. Unfortunately the service stabilitrak and traction control remain and the ABS break light is on and they are turned off as well. Any idea why I all of a sudden have no binding when I did before.

You should not be using the AUTO setting on clear dry roads; rain, snow, ice OK. Dry roads No. Binding due to front axles engaged and power is going to wheels. That is always a condition to be expected with 4wd vehicles. It possible driving in AUTO and the resulting binding have damaged something and the reason the warning lights are on but I can't tell you what the problem may be.

If you have not had a chance to look in the owners manual, here is what it says..

AUTO 4WD (Automatic Four-Wheel Drive): This
setting is ideal for use when road surface
traction conditions are variable. When driving your
vehicle in AUTO 4WD, the front axle is engaged,
but the vehicle’s power is primarily sent to the rear
wheels. When the vehicle’s software determines
a need for more traction, the system will
transfer more power to the front wheels. Driving in
this mode results in slightly lower fuel economy
than Two-Wheel Drive High.

it's really simple
Go buy a code reader that does ABS brakes as well as engine. There about 100 to 150 bucks. (cheeper than 2 wheel bearings) code it then you will know where to go with the abs light. stabilitrak and traction control turn off when there is a ABS problem becaues they all work together.
