2007 Sierra with about 200K miles and 100K on newer motor. 5.3L V8 and all good til a good rain comes.

Some history: 6 months ago after a good rain, turning the ignition switch to the on or start position would only show the "check engine" icon in the dash. Nothing else would happen. I tried all kinds of stuff over the next day or so to no avail and then on about the third day (dry weather again) it cranked no problem??? So I kept driving it. I noticed shortly after this that the keyless entry quick working so I wondered if this might be related. Had a light rain or two and no problem so I'm thinking maybe security system had a glitch with keyless entry and if no keyless system maybe no problem with starting, etc. Wrong!

Fast forward to this week:
It rains for two days which amounts to about 2" of rain 5 days ago. I get up crank the truck and breath a sigh of relief. After driving about 10 miles the radio quits playing, gauges stop working, all dash lights on but the truck is still running. I pull into a parking lot and turn off the ignition. Truck will not recrank. I disconnect battery for 5 mins and try again, still no crank. Mess around with it for 15 minutes and about to give up and out of nowhere it cranks! Radio, gauges, AC system all down but truck running. I drive it home and park it. Will not recrank after several attempts only showing little engine icon when ignition switch in on position too. So I decide to wait 3 days and try it again and it cranks and runs fine (dry weather, sun is out) and have driven it several times today no problem. How to find this problem? Might not do it again for months....... I could take it to a dealership but it doesn't have the problem. No check engine light. Help!

Wow, thats a strange one...Either it is just a coincidence that this is happening when it rains, or there is water getting into some electrical component. I would get it scanned anyways, to see if there are any retained codes relating to this.
It makes me wonder too, since GM is having all these ignition switch recalls on other models, if somehow that could be an issue in these.
