Hello,
I replaced an inner axle seal, bearing, and cv axle on my passenger side. We beat the stub shaft out of the housing and the c clip came with it. Well we put everything back in and then I noticed a day later the stub shaft where it goes into the axle housing has in and out movement of about a 1/2". We did try to pull the stub shaft out after installing it and it wouldn't come out which makes me think the c clip did engage, but I don't recall this amount of play before. Anyone know if there should be any movement of the stub shaft as far as in and out?
Was told by one gm tech this is normal and then I was hesistant so I showed the dealer a video and another tech said it isn't normal, so it's at the dealer right now. We did not take the axle housing down like the manual recommends to do the seal we just beat the stub shaft out with a puller. Thanks for any input.
