I'm new to this posting business. Thought I postedd this yesterday but it isn't showing up so maybe not. Anyway, i have a 2008 GMC Sierra HD Duramax. For the last year or so the information display would go dark intermittently. Just the area that shows odometer etc as I recall. Didn't say anything to dealer at the time because it kept coming back and I couldn't find it throwing a code. Was waiting for it to fully stop. Well the warranty expired in September and, guess what, the display went out again. But this time it took the transmission shift indicator and the gauges with it. Speedo and tach both work. Took out the switch and reconnected it and the display worked until next day. Checked all fuses and seem OK. Still can't find a code with my generic reader. Took the fuse panel off under hood and tightened up entry spade receptacle as suggested by one reader. Still nothing. Today I took an 80 mile round trip and the display started working on the way back. But not the gauges.
Any diagnosis and advice will be greatly appreciated. Even tho this is a 2008 it mostly sat for the first two years until I retired this last March. It has under 20k on it now.
