2008 Sierra, with aftermarket radio/Scosche interface harness.
A few weeks ago, door chimes stop working and indicator clicks are intermittent but the radio works fine. Then I notice the radio doesn't always turn off when it should, and sometimes doesn't light/power up on vehicle start.
Figured it was the Scosche wiring harness/interface. Tried a reset on the interface according to their instruction. No luck. Finally a few days ago, its all dead. No chimes, no radio, radio face doesn't light.
Took it all apart and found I have no power on the X1 connector that plugs into the back of the radio (interface harness in my case). According to the diagrams I found online there should be a battery 12v+ and ground but when testing across them I get nothing. I checked the fuses on the side of the dash/DS door and the fuses under the hood. All good, none burnt.
So the red/black wires on the X1 should carry battery+ and ground all the time, with the signal to the radio to turn on coming from the BCM? So no power= no chimes through the Scosche or radio.
Is there a known issue with this harness being faulty at all? And, to get power back to the radio interface(temporarily, I have 6 hr drive this weekend) can I cut the red and black, cap the ends on the harness and splice the red and black off one of the cigarette lighter/power ports to feed the interface and radio. I figure that will at least get me tunes for the trip?
