My son has a 2010 Denali, AWD, 6.2. He heard some clicking from what he assumed was left front so he replaced the CV. That wasn't it! At first the noise was just when you got on it but now it is much more prevelant. I have hearing issues (I wear hearing aids) so I am severely limited to diagnostics by sound when driving it. I hear the "clicking" but cannot say with certainty where it is coming from. To me it sounds like maybe a bad bearing or a spline that has gone bad but, there again, with bad ears this is still a guess.
I have jacked it up and shook the wheels with no obvious play in front or back. I don't know if this is "normal" but the rear wheels will still spin with engine off, in PARK with the rear jacked up.
Remember, I am limited to sound but is there something I can do to diagnose the issue? I am not familiar with domestic 4WD's since the 80's. Everything I have driven personally that wasn't a car, was a Japanese 4x4.
