hay all,
about to buy a 2010 sierra crew cab 4x4 72k on the clock. I've been hearing about the AFM system, anything i can do to bypass it ? don't want to dump money into a lifter replacement ( its what I've been seeing on you tube)no tapping when i started it the other day to test drive it. any ideas ? thanks guys

try the Range Active Fuel Management Disable Device its like 200 bucks seems work fine from what I hear.

I have the range device. Basically just plug it in to your OBD port before you start the truck and it keeps the truck in V8 mode. It doesn't save anything in the computer, so you can unplug it and your truck goes back to normal. When it is plugged in the on dash display reads V8 mode the whole time. I read about issues between the constant changing between 4-8 cylinders so I bought it as a precaution. Only issue I've ever had and I'm not sure if it's related to the device being plugged in all the time, but around 1500 rpm the truck would surge. This has only happened maybe 3 separate occasions and I usually just drive the truck a little bit with the device unplugged and it seems to fix it. There is a little blue light that stays on with it plugged in when your truck is off, but unless you go weeks without driving it shouldn't drain your battery.
