Hi guys. I am a new sierra owner. (New to me) 2010 with a 5.3. The truck has 69,000 miles. Still has remaining power train warranty. Long story short. I did a lot of research before I bought the truck. Was a little scared reading about all the afm issues out there. Anyways I bit the bullet thinking I wouldn't have any problems.... Spent 28,000. My truck is now in the shop for a third time. I truely believe there is a mechanical issues with the motor. And I keep going through the motions... It all started with me noticing the oil pressure was low after the truck was warm and at a idle. (10-20 psi). It finally threw a code for oil range performance. Brought the truck in and they told me they have seen the screen break down in front of the sending unit causing inaccurate readings. That was covered under warranty. They talked me into buying a new sending unit. 68$ . They said if it was the sender then I would have to pay for the labor. So I bought it. (Not wanting to have to pull the intake to get to it). That only minorly changed the pressure reading. 17 psi warm at idle. I know that is still a hm "acceptable" reading. But looking at other afm oil pressures that seems a bit low to me. Then on to the next other issues. I have noticed at every cold startup it burns oil. They seem to think its a valve guide seal. Which in the tort sound correct. I also notice while driving when cold u can see it burning some oil. They are currently looking into that one. Now last but not least. I was heading out for a snowmobile trip leaving at 330 In the morning. Remote started my truck filled my garage with smoke, Then developed a misfire. Flashing engine light constantly. Obviously I did not want to drive the car. Knowing what a misfires damage can cause. This majorly wrecked are plans. Had to have my buddy drive a hour away to get trailer and get bailed out by a ford
Now the misfire has gone away and the dealer can't seem to figure it out. I don't know guys... I truely am starting to believe they need to order a create engine! Help me GM! This is only my first month of owning the truck. Starting to figure out why it was traded in. Any input or suggestions please! Thanks -tim
