More info -- dropped from 18.5 to 13---Buy gas at same place all the time(Shell)--same driver(me)--no towing..no jack rabbit starts--have never kicked in passing gear --I'm an old man-I drive like one--55 to 60 most of my driving---70 on the interstate
My cousin's silverado dropped off a little bit, but not that much. How long did it take to drop from the 18.5 down to the 13? I know you said less than 10k on it, but how quick did those miles get put on it?
I bought it new April 2010- drove it mostly on weekends-seldom drove it to work--sometimes it would sit for a week and never be ranked. So the 9,000 miles on it have been slowly put on it since April 2010..I check mileage regularly and it was 18-18.5 until 2-3 tanks of gas ago. First time I figured maybe I had written down a number wrong but next tank figured 13 also.
I would suspect bad gas, Unless you burned a tank every two weeks on weekends you likely had the gas go bad and start gumming up the injectors etc. Current shelve life of gasoline is 30 days or less. So short drives and top offs do little to flush out the old.
I have recently had the following changed out: Throttle Positioning sensor cover kit, cam and two lifters. Only have 80,000 miles on the truck. I was finally averaging about 18 miles to the gallon. Now my gas mileage is real bad. Has anybody experienced this?
