2011 Acadia with Power Steering Gear Failure

I’m new to this forum and am looking for assistance and / or feedback on a failing power steering gear on a 4 year old Acadia with only 64,000 miles. Just recently made the last car payment, so am extremely disappointed in the failure of this GM part. The GM Dealership wants $1600 to replace the power steering gear, which is also outrageous. I’m the original owner, senior citizen driver, and this 2011 Acadia has been driven gently.

If all that wasn’t enough, the GM Dealership also identified a leaking front strut, and a probable leak in the Air Conditioning System. 4 years old, 64,000 miles…what a disgrace!

Has anyone out there had similar problems and does anyone know if General Motors would provide assistance with the repair or replacement of the Power Steering Gear?

Same problem - My 2011 Acadia steering gear failed completely at approx. 12K miles and was replaced under warranty. Steering gear at 35K is leaking and needs to be replaced again.
