Have a 2011 Acadia with 38k miles. Recently a whine developed when turning to left and right. Technician couldn't find anything. After 4 days in shop they said the power steering hose was leaking. Replaced that and noise is worse. Whines when wheel turned all the way to the left and right. I think it may be the pump. I've noticed this is a widespread problem with this model. Is it covered under warranty for replacing the pump?

There is a special policy covering the 2011 Acadia and reduction/ loss of power steering assist. Meaning GM repairs the vehicle up to 10 years or 150k miles if your vehicle has this condition.
I also know that when you change a P/S hose on these vehicles, it is tough to get all the air out and that may be where you extra noise is from the hose change.

You might be covered under warranty, so I'd check with the Dealer. I also have a power steering gear issue with my 2011 Acadia (64,000 miles). My dealer is of no help to me and wants to charge 1600.00 to replace the power steering gear. I am going to try to contact GM directly for assistance.
