Tried to post this in the Sierra Forum but keeps bouncing it.
My wife frecently bought her second Sierra; a 2011 1500 WT. Her previous one was a 2000 SLE which she also bought new. Anyway, I found a 2011 Sierra SLT radio/6 CD changer, new on one of the major auction sites. After checking GM part number, etc. found it should be compatible and bought it. This morning my GMC dealer said it's not compatible; should have part number 20934592 rather than the one I bought which was 20935459. There was no problem with the physical fit but I was told that they could not program it to the 2011 WT. And it came out of a 2011 Sierra. Only difference being ours is a WT and the unit came put of an SLT. Does this make sense? I've heard from other forums that after being told that units weren't compatible, dealers were found that could actually do the programming. Anyone have any information? Thanks.
