I've had my radar detector (escort 9500ix) for a few years now, but finally decided to hard wire it to my newer truck - 2013 Sierra Z71 4x4 Crew Cab SLE Diesel 6.6.

I had it hard wired in my old sierra (2006 2wd gas burner), just rigged up in the fuse box with an add a circuit to a fuse that reacted to the on/off of the ignition key - ex: radio. I went to go hard wire it to the new truck and get ready for this...

all the fuses are live 24/7. MEANING, no matter what fuse I link the detector to ... Radio, hvac, horn ... (Even features I don't have, but have fuses installed for some reason) ... Sunroof, rear HVAC, seat coolers...the radar detector comes on as soon as the fuse is plugged back in.

What the heck? Is there something special about a diesel? Newer trucks? That won't let you do this? I'm VERY interested to hear what people think be the issue. I couldn't find another thread with this issue so decided I'd start my own.
