Hello, I am a new one here. I searched but couldn’t find any matches, which is strange. I have a 2014 sierra SLE 5.3 and I have been trying every single option, which was extremely limited until recently to find bulbs that were upgraded from an oem brightness and colour. The issue is the high beam or lack of high beam is more like it. I found out that the bulbs are not the issue. My latest bulb is the Fahren Forscher 30000 lumens 6500k LED and I can assure you that brightness is not the problem. I have the sylvania 6000k (not sure the lumens), Canadian tire store fog lights as well. So my low beam light is awesome and probably annoying for oncoming traffic, but when I turn on the high beams, the lights are insanely bright to look at but the housing is the issue.
The light just gets dispersed everywhere and unless I am in an alley or somewhere that is enclosed on both sides of the vehicle, you basically lose any kind of controlled beam of light. Does anyone know of an aftermarket headlight assembly that fixes this issue? With fall and winter in western Canada are coming and darkness is earlier by the day, at highway speed I would like to be able to see the moose, deer, elk or elderly on their motorized cart tempting fate on the highway lol, with a little bit of time to decide whether I want to hit them or not. I will say that the low beam with these led bulbs are amazing and then the led fog light on top is just icing on the cake too, but at 100-130km/h they don’t aim high enough down the road to see far enough to make the above mentioned decision in time. I have seen a few options that one would need to take out a second and third mortgage to try.
The ones I saw
that looked most affordable (not affordable but “looked most affordable) so maybe only a second mortgage, but I didn’t like that it looked as if it were a replace and throw away. It was just a single plug on a sealed assembly loaded with a few different (2-3) options of bulb brightness, type and colour for the headlight (high, high/low and a low beam) which was far from the OEM and then 2 options of the marker/signal and then the DRL was the OEM led look of the slt style oem. If anyone has any suggestions, recommendations or has the same issue please feel free to comment and share. I have had this truck since June of 2019 and have been struggling on and off with this ever since. I live in Canada, so if you’re from the USA or many other countries, the exchange and tax are brutal. So on a USD priced item basically multiply it by 1.5x then it’s the same on shipping. Thanks in advance to everyone who reads and responds because I think this is a very important issue to solve as it is a huge safety concern especially to the ones living in areas like I do, where large animals on the road is common and fall and winter is when they move the most and also the time that road conditions can be less than favourable especially in cases when you don’t have much time to think and react in the best way possible.
