I've got a stock 2014 GMC 1500 All Terrain Pkg/5.3 V8/ Loaded.
Was questioning a higher than normal voltage reading at the factory volt gauge and my remote start fob would not work sometimes, and for one-time only....it would not crank to start with the ign key. Changed the battery in the key fob....same issues. Had the charging system checked, & was told that the Alternator was putting out HIGH voltage and that the battery was reading in a LOW state. My factory dash voltage gauge was reading a consistent 14-14.5 volts
through all of this. I had the voltage read across the battery terminals.....15v plus.(that seemed on the high side). I replaced the battery with a very good one. Now the volt meter sometimes reads 13.8-14.2, then anytime while driving, it will drop to 9.5v & stay there untill I stop, shut it down, restart, and then it reads 13.8-14-2v again. It has very low miles on it, and I believe the battery was the original. Could this be a faulty ALT issue I'm wondering?
Has anyone else had this happen ? Please advise.
