The Information Center has a view where it displays the temperature of the transmission fluid. I looked at it when I was pulling my boat and it read 194 deg. f. I can't find anything in the manual that indicates a "normal range" for this temperature. Does anyone know if this would be normal?
Also if my boat weighs around 3500 lbs. I was told that I don't have to use the Tow/Haul mode because that is for pulling heavy loads.
Could you help me with these questions please?

There doesn't seem to be much traffic on this Forum. Thought I would have a response by now.
How about you "GMC Customer Service"?

the tranny cooling is plumed thru the radiator so yes that temp is OK
tow button- yes you should use it reduces slippage in the transmission slippage causes HEAT not good for a trans
awhile back I had talked to the repair tech at the dealer I us for work on my vehicles about the tow button
his words "use it anytime there is a load on the engine or you need performance"
a load on the engine would be cargo or towing
they wouldn't have if it would cause damage to the system
I use it when I am pulling out in traffic otherwise my truck is a heavy slug
I use it when the A/C is on
I use it in rush hour traffic on the freeway I have learned not to have the traction control turned off because is down shifts violently
I Use It A lot...

98trk, thanks for your reply. I was wondering what kind of truck you are driving?
I have been driving GMC and Chevy 1500 models for years and years pulling my boat without Tow/Haul used. Never have had a transmission problem. At about 50000 miles I have the transmission serviced with new fluid etc.

when using the tow button to tow it down shifts when slowing down so you have engine braking so your not cooking your brakes
