Less than a year ago I had a spark plug wire come off the coil on my 2014 Z71 with 5.3 engine, replacement was covered by warranty. Yesterday the same thing happened, went to the dealer and was told that a new coil and sparkplug wire would be required and it would not be covered by warranty since my truck has 36,440 miles on it, and that is not considered part of the power train. Cost $248, so now I have two newer coils and sparkplug wires with only 6 more to go at a possible cost of $1,488 and unknown problems getting to a dealer when one goes out, plus possible damage to other parts if I have to drive too far on 7 cylinders!!!
In looking on the internet and this forum, I see that this is a known problem with many 2014's and 2015's. For those that have had the problem, does the wires and coil solve it and has anyone had the GM pickup the cost and replace all the wires?
All my family have only driven Chevy and GMC products for over 75 years, but if this continues it may be better to have an aluminum bed on a truck that runs than having a steel bed stranded.
