A few weeks ago I received a safety recall notice from GM regarding my 2015 Canyon. The recall addresses possible power steering loss while driving. So I called my local GMC dealer in which I purchased the vehicle from. The "service associate" and I agreed to a particular date and time to drop of my vehicle. She told me that it would take 3-4 hours to complete the inspection and repair but I should have the vehicle back by COB. So that morning my wife follows me over to the dealership to drop off the truck. As I was waiting in line the lead service mechanic who I got know from previous drop offs stop and chatted with me. I told him I was hear for the recall. He said he was backed up by about 10 days and I would have to leave the truck. I blew a gasket because the "service associate" never informed me of having to leave the vehicle for an extended period of time. I left storming and haven't been back since. With this said I would like to hear back from all who took in their vehicle for this recall and what your experience has been. Was it a one day job or did you have to leave it for an extended period of time? Also, did your dealership try to compensate you if it was for a few days by giving you a loaner vehicle or something else to that effect. I'm pissed not so much with the recall but the way it was handled. No one ever mentioned that this was a bigger job than advertised and to be prepared in having to leave the truck for up to two weeks. Poor dealership service as usual. Thanks to all who reply.
