2018 GMC Sierra Transfer Case Selector

I found a low mileage 2018 Sierra 1500 for sale, the transfer case selector is a lever on the center hump, I am have not seen this 4WD configuration in many years. The CarFax report shows that it was first sold in Quebec.
My thought is that it is a simpler system vs. the electronic selector.
Any pros or cons on this configuration?
