New member here. Trying to take care of my dad's Sierra 2500HD Utility Truck for his construction job.

Anyone have recommendation on a good independent shop to get the truck serviced in Pasadena / Los Angeles area. Went to the dealership for an alignment and was told that the front suspension is pretty much shot....needs upper and lower control arm ball joints, idler arm, pitman arm, steering gear box, etc. etc. Close to $3500 in repairs and didn't seem right and wanted a second opinion because the truck drives fine, does not feel rough or issues with steering.

How do I check for myself all this work is needed?

Thanks.

first post up how many miles are on it

Most times as the truck puts on the miles, you don't notice the degradation in performance when it comes to suspension, but it does wear out. I would look at how many miles are on the truck, go find another shop for a second opinion as in just tell them you want an alignment. If they align it, and they don't mention all of the other repairs being needed, there ya go. But, if the do the alignement and see unusual wear on the tires after some miles, you probably have an issue.

You can also do a visual on the parts they described as bad. push and pull on the parts, read up and do a search for location of the parts. Good luck!
