I have a 85 GMC 4x4 which had a blown motor. This 85 was a Carb stock.
I picked up a 87 GMC sub, with a 350 throtle body. I swaped out the motor and trans. put the old distributer back in, changed out the intake and elderbrock 4 barrel carb, And went to put the manual fuel pump in. This is when I found after removing the blank plate that the casting was not open for the manual pump. I had to buy electrical pump (carter) from napa. the truck started up and I drove it home. Started the truck in my drive for several days getting other thing going before I put plate back on. The fuel pump failed and had to buy a new one. Check to make sure I had gas and started the truck. Question is the truck has good pick up with throttle. but idle rough, high and low engine lopes and in gear lopes hard enough you better have your foot on the brake. Gas air mixer screws dont seem to change anything on carb. Sound like it flutters and it burnes very rich. Please help me out with this.

Fuel pressure

They said at napa that the fuel pump is a 5 to 7 pound fuel pump. I never put a timing light on it, because it started right up. maybe I should check it to make sure. It fires right up and once it is warmed up, has good throttle response.
