What all has to be done to put a 5.3 in my 07 classic? Can you just change the motor then plug in the right computer module? Sorry I am just interested in how much trouble it would be.

You would need to get the V8 engine wiring harness along with the ECU that matches the engine. The engine swap is pretty straight forward and if you get an engine from a wreck just get as much of the mounting parts and wiring that you can. Oh i believe you should get the whole drivetrain to keep it as simple as possible. Bring money

O.K. thnx. I noticed that the new trucks have a 4.3 with 285hp. WTH, mine is only 185hp. Anybody know if mine can be bumped up to 285? That's the only reason I wanted a 5.3 anyhow. I don't care if it has to be pulled out and completely rebuilt. I love my little black lowered 07 Classic, just needs a little more poop.
