4 Wheel Drive light indicator wont turn on

ok i have 1992 gmc half ton pickup with 4 wheel drive. my 4 wheel drive works, but the light wont turn on to indicate that the front axle for the 4 wheel drive is kicked in. i took the cover off by the shifter and checked my light by putting it in the rear wheel drive light and it works. i checked my fuses and they seem to be good too. so the only thing i could think of is maybe i have a loose or broken wire underneath the pickup. So by the 4 wheel drive shifter i was wondering where does the front wheel drive indicator light harness go after it goes through the floor. does it connect somehwere up to the front axle or where does the wire go too. my four wheel drive works fine but i would like to get my light to work so i know when it is engaged.

Check your wire leads at the front differential actuator, common for the wires there to corrode causing the issue your havig or no front actuator engament of the 4wd. Start with that and good luck.
