Well i know that these transmissions are similar in almost every way but both of them are non electric and i dont seem to know which one comes stock in a 1990 GMC Sierra (c1500) with 2wd... From what ive read, the 4L60 was created in 1990 vehicles but im not sure if that would consist the vehicles in 1990...
Does anyone know what my truck would have?

The 700R4 was renamed 4L60, there the same transmision and being the 4L60 would have all the upgrade the 700R4 would have had. 4L60E is the same version other then the shifts are electronicaly controld by solenoids and as to the 4L60 is mechanical and uses transmission line pressure and a governor gear to know when it's time to switch gears. Hope this is easy enough to understand, hard to try to keep is simple as to transmission class 101. :D
