I have worked on my 1998 sonoma with the 233 transfer case.It wont lock in 4x4 heres what i have done so far
1) new vacuum switch on transfer case
2) 2 different acuators under battery
3) 3 used different electric motors on transfer case
4) 2 used tccm's
5) bought a good used transfer case and installed
I have checked and rechecked all vacuum lines,the front diff switch ,the front cable is free and operates by hand and all is good there.
It currently shows no codes coming up by running a jumper from data link #13 to ground the 2hi/4hi/4lo switch lights all come on then it drops to just the 2hi light like it should.When running i push 4 hi and hear relays in the tccm and also hear the transfer case motor working and i have observed the acuator start to pull in but then its just like i loose power to the transfer case motor and it snaps right back into 2 hi.I am thinking its the transfer case motor but i have tried 3 used ones with the same results its like it turns just far enough to just start to open the vacuum switch on top of transfer case and looses power or maybe a ground? And if i have been reading things right if it was the motor i should get a code but im not.
Anyone ever ran into this or any ideas where to go from here
