O.K, So I found out today that my truck (07 Sierra, 5.3 NBS) was approved by the dealership to replace the rings in engine. Its gone thru 2 1/2 quarts between changes.
To make a long story short, This dealer is not the one I bought the truck from and had feelings that the dealer I purchased from was not totally up front with me as they said nothing had been done to the engine and was reluctant to give me the name of the original owner for questioning. I asked 2nd dealer if they could give me background service work done which they did and found out that all other fixes for oil usage had been done.
So now they are going to do the re-ring without doing the oil consumption test. Which I am grateful for. They have done work for me in the past with great satisfaction.
Now my question is, has anyone had the re-ring done and what was the outcome? Their telling me they are honing cylinders, replacing rings and gaskets. Are rings standard bore or are they 1 thousands over! Any feedback would be appreciated.

By the way, "Cudo's to Bob Clyse GMC in Ironton Ohio."
