Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum here. I've inherited a 79 Sierra classic big block (ac,ps,power brakes) 2wd turbo 400
It was my dad's he bought it in 95. I was three when we bought it out of southern Illinois, and it was the first vehicle I ever remember riding in.Beautiful truck he was going to sell it before I was driving, but when he put it in the front yard with a for sale sign in it I started crying (maybe 8-9 years old) my mom made him pull it back in and it got put into reserve car status. My dad used it for a work truck as an insurance adjuster and family hauler. When i started driving it was my favorite thing to drive. It gets about 6-8 mpg average. Numbers matching 454 and 400 cat fell off years ago by a tragic run in with a cutoff wheel and has an RV cam in it and is on some 17" American racing wheels it was zbar d when it was new. Gold over tan insets I love it. Never will sell. It is getting a full cosmetic restoration and I would like to mildly build the engine, period correct. I would like about 5-600 HP and quite a bit of torque. I will be using it as a tow vehicle for my projects and hopefully a show car at some point. I'm 23 have a wife and son and I want my sons first memories to be of this family heirloom I hope to pass to him someday. I live in a small town and when I'm (constantly, lol) at one of the gas stations some gentleman asks me about it, just because it's the only one like it and who the previous owner was and I'm so glad to say it was my dad's. He's happy knowing my plans and is glad he doesn't have to insure it or feed it any more.
