hello!

i'm new to this forum, and i have an issue with my 1990 Suburban 1500. the reverse lights stay on in P, N, D as well as R, and they ONLY come on when the headlights are on.

so the reverse lights are always on when the headlights are on, whether i'm in R or not, and when the headlights are on, the rear turn signals are not functional.

has anyone else experienced the same problems, or can anyone tell me what the problem more than likely is?

any help is greatly appreciated.

THANK YOU!

Did you touched the wiring or gave it so someone to fix something?

could be a wrong wiring or maybe short circuit

did you touched the wiring

i have not altered the wiring, although someone did install a new stereo a short time ago

i have owned the vehicle less than a year...

when i remove the reverse light bulbs, the rear turn signals work just fine with the headlights on.

i've done a lot of looking online and not had much luck finding anyone with the exact same problem...

thanks for your reply!

The most likely culprit is a bad ground connection. Removing the back-up light bulb opens the short.

Is / are the turn signal lights dim when lit? What about the back-up lights? This is one telltale sign that there is a ground issue.
