While on a trip out-of-state our 93 Sub began to shift hard into 2nd. On return home, our mechanic told us that it needed to be replaced. So it was.

When we got it back, I had to ask the mechanic if he accidentally put the old transmission back in, because the hard shifting into 2nd was just as bad as before.

The supplier had a local transmission shop check it, and they told us there is nothing wrong with the transmission (surprise!). Their computer read a code 35 in both transmission and engine, which is an air idle issue. They suggested changing the air idle part - sorry can't remember what it is - and if that does not help, to have a ignition-switch and wiring harness installed (because, they said, 93-99 Subs have a problem with contacts getting bad and providing low voltage to the trans).

Any of that make sense? Any other ideas?

TIA
