Hi,

I'm new to the forum.
I don't own a GMC.... signed up to help my friend who has a '93 Vandura 2500. He can't find a good mechanic that is willing to work on is super cool old van without charging mucho $$'s just to look at it.

I work on my Isuzu's, but don't know much about GMC's. Hope you can help me help him. Thanks in advance!

'93 GMC Vandura 6 cyl, Throttle body INjection
200 (+) k miles. But has had head job on one side couple years ago.

The van cranks very well, but will not start.
Yesterday I was able to get it to fire for just a second with brief cough out the carb.

It has consistent spark in all 6 cylinders
Fuel pump seems to be working. I checked it at the fuel filter, AND I can see it squirting fuel into carb. Though I did not check pressure.

Compression in all 6 cyl is between 170 - 180

Put in new spark plugs after compression test.
Checked vacuum lines. Found a few rough ends and fixed them.
Distributer cap and rotor are in decent shape.

Shot carb cleaner down carb with no effect.

I think it is nothing major, but don't know what. Perhaps vacuum switch? Dirty Throttle body?
I edited this because I have learned that it is a TBI...

Thanks much!

Update:
Checked fuel pressure. Came up at 10 ish psi. but would drop rapidly after key off.

Put new fuel pump in. Definitely getting more gas at the throttle body.

Got it to cough a little, but with starter fluid added.

Gonna try cleaning the throttle body. And test any sensors I can find ie...MAP etc...

Any thoughts?

Thanks
