I have a 1994 GMC Jimmy which has excellent heat. However, when I use the heater I get an acrid smell from the control panel and a bit of smoke coming out of the switch. These are the slider switches and not the dial knob switches. I did change the blower motor resistor (thinking that it may have caused an electrical surge or something)
I am sensing that there has to be some residue, dirt or buildup in the components of the switches (its a 20 year old truck). Has anybody ever heard of this? It does not smell like wires and am thinking that maybe s good shot of contact cleaner might solve the problem.
Any help or input would be great.
