Hello all. I have a 94 suburban k1500 sle, 350 motor. 2 weeks ago I noticed my water gauge a little higher than normal. looked at radiator, noticed a pin hole spray of water shooting out towards engine. was coming off water pump. i put duct tape around it and drove it 7 miles a day for 4 days like that carefully keeping 8 jugs of water in the burg for re fills. Took her to the shop had all new hoses, water pump, radiator and cap put in. asked to do timing chain at same time. mechanic said didn't need it. (when picked up)
Drove less than 2 miles from shop, needle way into red, pulled over & called shop. Said a bubble (air pocket) must have formed in the engine, bring it back.my son opened the radiator cap and a fountain of water and coolant flew out. went back to shop, ran fine, added more water.
problem. she had a noise like whine when power steering fliud low, not. Could not press on gas pedal, she would bog down, began stalling. yesterday she wouldn't start, wants to,jump didn't help. today tried to start, white smoke coming from carb, smelled oil stick, gasoilne smell on it.
she ran fine even when had small water leak.never have had a problem with her. oil changed faithfully. she's a beast....what does it sound like? i don't know if i should go to the same shop or ?
thank you

I'd hate to say its the head gasket just yet. My tahoe had the same fuel in oil smell and it was loosing coolant, I traced it to the intake gasket. My truck had a rough idle and bad hesitation because of it. Hopefully you have the same issue, its worth checking. I have no idea on the whining sound though

update: burb breakin my heart

Hello. Well as it sometimes goes, it made a liar out of me today. I had my brother come here. First try she started right up! Go figure. (I didn't try it again after the white smoke came out of the carb.)
Checked spark and all good, ran voltage tests all came up good.
He came to the only conclusion the coil pack or the ignition control module that sits on top of the coil pack my be breaking down, so intermittently it caused the problem. We are going to wait and see if I break down and take it from there. At this time he sees no cause for why it wouldn't start before.
Fuel pump is working, runs like the beast I've always known! I did have him put on a new fuel filter for me while he was here for my pease of mind.
Took her up and down the interstate she ran purrrrrrrfect!
The fuel smell in the oil is minimal, he said it was from my flooding it because it wouldn't turn over it slipped past the rings because it was under pressure and no big deal, the oil was clean and still has it's thickness and looked great. I'm sure I didn't translate that correct??
I am very fortunate the guy who owned this before me was a marine mechanic and kept this burb up extremely well. So, I guess I will just have to wait and see.
Oh, one thing I forgot to mention. I have a leak around the windshield on top and it rained super heavy here for 3 days, maybe it got water in the dash somewhere and needed to dry out? I put some silicon on it today.
Thanks for your reply. :)
